Magic of Believing

I can't imagine a child not believing in Santa Claus. I know I'm prejudice, but I don't think there is a child in the whole world who loves Santa as much as Sier. He thinks Santa was put on the Earth just for him. Sier prays for him on a nightly basis, invites him to his birthday parties, and talks abut him non stop. Yes, we invited him to Sier's Birthday party. Santa couldn't figure out how to show up to a party filled with little kids in February and not leave with a room full of disappointed children....so, he came to see Sier on his birthday. He thought it was such a normal thing to have Santa come on your birthday just to see you. Last year if he would see a Santa he would walk right up to him and just start talking to him. He even grabbed a few Santa hands he saw walking around. The Santa's are great! (especially the one who came to his birthday)

Every year we try to take the kids to see Santa arrive at the Riverton City Hall on a fire engine. We wait in the cold for over an hour to be one of the first in line. We play with cousins, and sing songs while we wait. When the kids see the fire engine coming down the street it is amazing to watch all of their faces. We get to sit on Santa's lap and Mrs. Claus gives the kids a fun treat. After we see Santa we go get some crafts to make, decorate a sugar cookie, eat scones & hot chocolate, and go for a hayride. The kids have such a fun time going with cousins, and running into friends they know from school, church, or the neighborhood. Somehow Craig figured out how to but in line without being rude...I don't know how that happens, but he had everybody hot chocolate and donuts before I walked to the end of the line to wait my turn! I hope we can all still believe in the Magic of Christmas, no matter what age we are.

Cutting down Christmas Tree's in one tradition that I don't want to give up. It is so much fun to go with all of the Rentmeister family to get them. All of Marks Cousins, Aunts, and Uncles try to go....it's not very often that everybody doesn't show up. Thanks to everybody who works so hard to put it together!

This past week Mark has been working 8-9 hour days, instead of 10-12 hour days.....sucks for the overtime $, but it's great to have him around. He has been able to get a ton of things done around the house.....spot lights put up in back and on the side, motion sensor lights, and Christmas lights! It took him a few nights to finish because we ran out of lights and we were trying to decide what kind of lights to put on and as a matter of fact, he's still not done. We need one more strand. Any how....Sier has been helping him every second he can. He stands outside and just watches him work, if Mark comes in so does Sier. He has become his dads shadow lately...very cute. So with Mark on the roof the past couple of nights Sier has been DYING to go up there with him....finally Mark broke down and said it was okay (I DID NOT WANT HIM ON THE ROOF) But I VERY UNWILLINGLY helped him up there. Sier sat right by the swamp cooler and CRIED!!! He was terrified and got right back down!! A few minutes later he wasn't scared of it anymore, and we let him try it again....he conquered his fear. I know...I'm the worst mom in history for letting him on the roof, just put it on the list of things I do wrong...I'm a hoverer, I let them have ice cream for breakfast (sometimes...what's the difference between ice cream and lucky charms?? They both have the same nutritional value), we bought them a four wheeler when Kip was 3 (almost 4!), and we let them play on the roof!! But it made for a great picture.

"I'm boared"

What do you think my kids are trying to tell me? You know you're board when you play in the back yard with your fourwheeler helmets on! And yes, for those of you who haven't seen my back yard...there is a sidewalk going right down the middle of it, I know...it the latest thing in landscaping.

"It's Christmas!"

A few days ago we woke up with snow on the ground! For some reason the first real snow of the season is always so exciting to me. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a winter person at all, but that first snow is just great. When Sier woke up we had him look out the window and we heard him say, very softly, "It's Christmas time!"
Kip had a hard time deciding to wear snow boots or not to wear snow boots. So I called a few friends and asked them what they did....they had mixed answers....so he didn't wear snow boots. Next time, I'll probably send him in them just in case...(so that he's happy). After school that day we went and got our cousin Jaxon from preschool so that he could come down and play. Just a fast note about that....I don't like the pick-up-lady.....she's not a very happy person, and sorry Jera for me being the problem person. (I really didn't do anything just in case you all are wondering, I was just putting seat belts on the kids, which it turns out is a big deal and I won't next time.)
So we played in the snow, made cookies, and had a fun afternoon with the snow, our cousin, and our neighbor Beth.

Kip is finally old enough to have a good snowball fight.

The first thing on Siers list was to make a Snow Angel

The first thing on Kips list was to make a snow ball and throw it at his brother.

Trick or Treat

Okay, I have no pictures to post because the kids looked the same as they did at the Halloween Party. Now that the kids are getting older, Halloween is FUN! Kip had the "Halloween Parade" at the school that I went to- He was the only Obi-Won that I saw, there were a lot of other Star Wars people though! Sier thought it was pretty cool and was talking about it the rest of the day. When it came time to go trick-or-treating Kip didn't want to go!!! We had to drive around to see Grandparents and Aunts & Uncles so we left about 4:30, and he was mad because it wasn't dark outside yet-and we all know- you go trick-or-treating in the dark! When the time came to finally go around the neighborhood he was pretty excited. Sier was HILARIOUS! He ran to every body's doors and was so excited about getting treats. They were both very polite and said thank you and wished them a "Happy Halloween" before they closed the door. There is a little girl in Kips class that lives around the corner and they both really like each other. She even told one of my friends that she's going to marry Kip and wear a pretty white dress!! She's never known what house is ours, but she found it when she came trick-or-treating and was sooo excited! They are funny!!
Other than that, not a lot is going on...We've been working a lot in our yard, and it's going to be great next summer! More on that in another post!
