Wrestling

I'm sad to say wrestling season has come to an end. (NOT) Kip decided to try wrestling this year and was so excited to do it! You have to understand that wrestling matches are a VERY COMMON thing that happens at the Phister house. Mark and Kurt wrestled in High School, and they still have a good go at it...to the point one of them either gets hurt, or throws up. (okay, I'm exaggerating a little, but they really do wrestle ALL the time.)

Well, now it's the nephews turn to join in the fun. What else would 6 little boys do? So they wrestle, fish hook, fireman carry, half nelson the HECK out of each other. We thought, "hey, why not sign them up to do it?" Let me just tell you...if Kip would wrestle strangers the same way he does his cousins, he would have won more that ONE match. The poor kid!! He loved going to practices, loved going to matches...but the last match, he just layed there! Mark was totally beside himself! Kip didn't even have an ounce of fight in him. OH, poor kid! BUT HE HAD FUN!! We'll give it another go next year...lots can change in a year. Better luck next time buddy. (I hope he doesn't read this!)

Shoot!

A few weeks ago we went shooting with some family and friends. It was a great time....I even hit a few "clay pheasants". It really got Mark into having Gun Fever, whatever that means...I think it means he needs some new guns- he looks at them for hours everyday on KSL. I couldn't believe how much garbage was out there. We went on the west side of Utah Lake, along with everybody else in the 801 and 435 area codes. Do people just not know how to clean up after themselves or what?!?! My Gosh, don't you think that most people who shoot guns were PROBABLY Boy Scouts, and don't you think they learn about LEAVING a place CLEANER than they found it? Apparently not because there were shot-gun shells, Beer bottles & cans, and just plain old garbage everywhere. I was shocked. Next time I'm taking my big box of garbage bags and handing them out to everybody I see.....(okay probably not because I'm not their mother.)

SIERS BIRTHDAY

Sier turned 4 on February 26. I can't believe the little guy is 4!! He was so stinkin' excited for his birthday...I think he was really more excited to eat at Golden Tree (he LOVES their rice, chicken, and red sauce) He had to have Grandma & Grandpa Joe, and his favorite Uncle Steve (who is really Marks cousin) and his wife Jamie come with us. He forgot all about Santa Claus this year! All he wanted for his birthday was a wallet that would fit in his pocket...but of course I couldn't find one anywhere. (it's one of those things when you need it, you can't find it.) So he got a Nintendo DS instead...I know...SPOILED. And I said "I will never get my 4 year old his own DS." Yes, my words are tasting good. Sier didn't get a friend birthday party this year...having 2 birthdays in February is a little draining...so we've decided the "every-other-year" works just great! He was spoiled rotten from everybody!!! He got "Batmam" everything...pajamas (that he didn't take of for 5 days strait), masks, costumes...and of course a red lightsaber so he could be Darth Vader. Man, I sure do love that Kid! (And so does everybody else.)

PARTY TIME

Kips party was so much fun! He wanted a sleepover, so we did it. He invited all of his cousins to spend the night, and some of his school friends to just come to the party. (Let's face it, who would let their kid sleep over at a strangers house?) We had pizza, played freeze dance, opened presents, and had lots of fun. I still can't believe he's 6!

Gratitude

Everyday when I drop Kip off from school, I realize how Lucky, and Blessed I am to have my kids. Kips school has a program for kids with disabilities who require wheelchairs and walkers. When I watch those little children pushing those walkers through the doors I thank Heavenly Father for the blessings in my life, and for my kids. I am so blessed that I have Sier, who teaches me patience, persistance, passion, and pure love. I'm so fortunate that we don't have walkers, crutches, wheelchairs, or any other devises for that matter. I look at pictures when he would wear his Michael Jackson glove, or all of his casts and realize how easy we've got it with him. I doubt that he won't ever need a brace for his foot to keep it from dragging so much, I'm sure the time will come. I don't look forward to the day when he asks "What is wrong with my body?". He notices now that his body doesn't work the same as other kids his age, and he makes small coments like "my had won't let me" or "my leg just won't keep up while I'm running" BUT...It has NEVER slowed him down, and it's NEVER stopped him from trying things. I get frustrated sometimes with people who are close to us who just don't understand it completely, and expect him to be physically the same as other kids his age. We all forget too quickly that he is a special needs kid, I need to remember that more often when I get frustrated with his physical limitations. I'm lucky and blessed to have him teaching me everyday. We all need these little reminders of how truly easy we have it. So now you know if you seeing me driving out of the school yard in the mornings, and see me cry...it's out of gratitude.

Take Spanish!

This is funny stuff. My Mother-in-Law works at South Jordan Middle School, and was telling us this story the other day.
Last week was Foreign Language week at school. The 6th graders were registering for 7th grade, so they were promoting the different language classes to get more people to sign up. So...The teachers had students make posters to hang all over to school to get the kids interested and excited to learn a different language. (This is were it gets good.) Some of the students made posters that said "Learn Spanish, then you can work at McDonalds". I'm sorry, but I busted out laughing when I heard that. I'm SHOCKED that the teacher let them hang the posters, and what's more...the kids didn't have to take them down! Of course I think it's funny, but I don't think it right. OH, the world we leave in...I need my Diet Pepsi.

6 Years!!

I can't believe Kip is already 6! He adds so much to our family. Kip is a very sensitive and tender hearted boy, and wears his emotions on his sleeve. (poor kid!) He is reading already, and is learning so much each day. I'm always amazed at the things he remembers, and the funny things he says. Last night he said, "Mom, I sure hope these bananas don't get all rusted like the other ones did." It took me a second, but I finally figured out he meant "rotten". (he HATES when banana peels have brown on them, Mark and I love them like that!) I really love Kip, and I don't ever want him to grow up....

JAXON

Happy Birthday Jaxon!!! For everybody who doesn't know this happy kid, let me tell you about him. He is one of the funnest boys to have around, always making you laugh. When you look at him you just can't help but to smile. He is 364 days younger than Kip. If you ever meet him, ask him to tell you one of his preschool poems, and you'll forever hear his munchkin voice in your head. I'm sorry, but he just might be one of my top 10 favorite nephews. Love you Jax!!
